Retired Investor and Philanthropist | Palm Beach, Florida
Johanna Klausen is a retired investor and passionate philanthropist living in Palm Beach, Florida. As an investor, Johanna specialized in stocks, bonds and real estate. Presently, she is active in maintaining and managing her investment, and regularly engages in charity work.
Johanna’s advice to investors is to know ‘the news’ on the stocks, the fundamentals, the 52-week highs and lows, and if the stock is making its quarterly earnings.
As an avid philanthropist, Johanna shares tips for individuals looking to get involved in their community. Specifically, Johanna states that in order to be successful in fundraising and charity work you need a vast friendship base. You need to contribute to other friends’ charities and the usual protocol is that they will reciprocate and donate and help you. This is a building process. Always acknowledge your volunteers and donors. Make sure their names and pictures are given recognition. Develop real relationships. When people feel appreciated, they will want to continue to help you on the other projects. It called a charity wheel because it goes around and around from on charity to the next.
Some of Johanna’s favourite charities include Achilles International, Melanoma, Lung Association,s and various Christmas Drives for children from lower income homes. She particularly likes Achilles International Freedom Team because they contribute the money to get wounded Amputee War Veterans a special kind of wheelchair for sports, such as racing and basketball. Veterans have given their lives for this country and deserve to be cared for long after their service is completed.
